Ah, fool's gold. Iron sulfide, or pyrite, is geology's favorite practical joke. It features a dazzling, metallic brass-yellow luster that makes amateur prospectors think they struck it rich. Sadly for them, it's brittle, leaves a blackish streak when scratched, and is financially worthless compared to actual gold. Nature loves a good scam.
