It sounds incredibly futuristic until you realize it's just outsourcing our power grid to celestial mechanics. Tidal power generators are essentially giant underwater wind turbines. They rely on the gravitational pull of the moon dragging billions of tons of ocean water in and out of bays every day. We are basically powering coastal cities by exploiting a dead rock orbiting 238,000 miles away.
