Gravity usually dictates that if you travel up a 110-percent incline, you're going to spill your coffee and tumble backward. The Swiss, naturally, found this unacceptable. To conquer the Schwyz Alps, engineers designed the Stoosbahn with four cylindrical passenger cabins that independently rotate as the chassis climbs the mountain. Instead of standing at an awkward, calf-burning angle, commuters remain perfectly horizontal while the track underneath them turns into a literal roller coaster drop.
