Biohybrid computing substrates combine living neurons with synthetic silicon hardware. In a landmark experiment known as "DishBrain," researchers successfully cultured hundreds of thousands of living brain cells atop high-density microelectrode arrays. By feeding the cells electrical impulses representing the paddle and ball, the organic mass dynamically rewired its own neural pathways to successfully play a game of Pong.
