Long before luxury SUVs dominated the suburbs, the US military strapped multiple Cadillac V8 engines into a series of highly articulated, tracked land trains. They dragged these mechanical centipedes through desert sands in 1947 just to see if multi-carriage road trains could traverse post-apocalyptic wastelands without completely snapping in half.
