Why disgust is so hard to fake
You can easily fake a smile or feign surprise, but generating authentic revulsion on command is nearly impossible. True disgust requires the involuntary crinkling of the nose and raising of the upper lip, tied to ancient disease-avoidance circuitry. If you try to fake being grossed out, you just look like you smelled a mild cheese.
