How a Wheat Field Becomes Emeralds
A farmer villager can buy wheat from a player and pay in emeralds. The trade turns a crop that is easy to grow in quantity into a way to earn the currency used in villager trading. It is the player selling wheat—not spending emeralds to buy it.
The Value Is in the Surplus
Wheat starts with seeds, which players can plant on prepared farmland and harvest once it grows. Replanting seeds keeps the field producing, while the harvested wheat can go to the villager instead of being used for food or crafting. That makes a working farm a repeatable source of trade goods rather than a one-time find in a chest.
The trade also gives ordinary crops a role in the game’s economy: a player who invests time in planting and harvesting can earn emeralds without first mining for them. A field’s output can become the next tool, supply, or other offer available through villager trading.
