Caselotti was paid a miserable 970 dollars for her immortalized performance, and whenever she tried to get work elsewhere, Disney lawyers aggressively swooped in to block her. It is absolutely hilarious that the company built entirely on the concept of making dreams come true actively operated like a mid-century mafia cartel when it came to their own talent. So the next time you hear that beautiful, high-pitched voice singing into a wishing well, just remember it is the sound of a woman being legally held hostage by a cartoon mouse for the rest of her natural life
