A closer look

You can literally hack a highly anxious brain by forcing it to play a very specific, incredibly boring video game. People with severe anxiety have a threat-related attentional bias; their eyes subconsciously dart toward angry or dangerous faces in a crowd. By using computer tasks that repeatedly force the user to look away from negative stimuli and locate a dot behind a happy face, psychologists can physically rewire the brain's visual habits, curing clinical anxiety by simply teaching the eyes to ignore the haters.
