Left-handed people may recover speech faster after strokes

Being left-handed is usually an inconvenience, until a major brain injury occurs. Because left-handed people often distribute their language processing centers more evenly across both brain hemispheres rather than aggressively cramming it all into the left side, they have a natural backup drive. If a stroke destroys one side, the other hemisphere just picks up the slack.
