Drinking hot beverages on a hot day cools you down faster than drinking ice-cold water, a counterintuitive physiological trick that exploits your body's sweat response; the sudden influx of heat in your stomach signals your brain to drastically increase sweat production, and as that sweat evaporates from your skin, it cools your entire body more efficiently than the temporary chill of a cold drink; of course, no one actually does this because the psychological torture of sipping boiling tea while sweating profusely in the blazing sun feels like an absolute nightmare, meaning we would much rather chug an iced coffee which actually forces our body to generate more internal heat, actively sabotaging our own thermal regulation
