If you want your magical book club to feel authentic, you obviously need to dress like a pharaoh. The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn was arguably the most influential occult group of the twentieth century, counting poets like W.B. Yeats among its members. But behind closed doors, they performed elaborate rituals wearing paper-mache Egyptian headdresses and dramatic robes. They truly believed they were channeling ancient wisdom, though from an outside perspective, it looked exactly like a bunch of wealthy British eccentrics playing high-stakes dress-up.
