Monet aggressively pruned his garden to paint it perfectly

HERE’S THE INTERESTING PART

Claude Monet is universally famous for his gentle, atmospheric paintings of water lilies, but behind the scenes, he was a total botanical tyrant. He hired six full-time gardeners and demanded they obsessively clean the dust off individual lily pads before he painted them. If a tree branch ruined his artistic composition, he would simply pay a crew to forcefully hack it off.
