The majesty of glass recycling is shockingly rudimentary. Instead of melting bottles down to elegantly re-blow them, many recycling plants simply crush the glass back into a coarse aggregate sand. They then sell it as a cheap filler for road construction or fiberglass, essentially un-inventing the bottle.
