Because humanity's collective ego still physically amounts to a tiny pile of meat inside a massive red rock ditch. The volume of the Grand Canyon is roughly 4.17 trillion cubic meters. If you took all eight billion living humans and stacked them into a giant, horrifying pile, we wouldn't even come close to filling a fraction of it. It's a sobering reminder that nature is vast and we are just aggressively noisy ants.
