Quentin Tarantino’s wallet, on screen
The wallet Jules retrieves from Brett in Pulp Fiction belonged to the film’s writer-director, Quentin Tarantino. It was not simply a costume-department find: Tarantino brought his own wallet into the production, giving the prop a personal connection to the person who created the scene.
A small object with a big job
In the apartment scene, Jules identifies the wallet by its large “Bad Mother Fucker” inscription. That detail turns an ordinary object into a memorable clue: it lets Jules recognize his own property and gives the exchange its sharp, comic edge. The wallet also suits the film’s way of making character emerge through specific, talkable details rather than lengthy explanation.
Because it was Tarantino’s real wallet, the object carried a bit of the filmmaker into a scene built around Jules’s forceful presence. What viewers remember as one of the movie’s most distinctive props began as something the director actually owned.
