Why ripe tropical oranges can stay green

HERE’S THE INTERESTING PART

Natural oranges grown in incredibly warm tropical climates remain entirely bright green on the outside even when completely ripe and intensely sweet inside. Supermarkets intentionally expose them to freezing ethylene gas entirely to forcibly turn the peels an aesthetically pleasing orange color.
