A closer look

Benjamin Libet ruined the concept of free will for everyone by wiring people up to EEG machines and asking them to flick their wrists. He discovered that the brain initiates the neurological preparation for movement a significant fraction of a second before the person is consciously aware of deciding to move. In other words, your subconscious throws the party, and your conscious mind just shows up late thinking it planned the whole thing. It implies that what we call "free will" might just be our conscious brain desperately trying to take credit for decisions our meat-computer already made.
