The 'Internet of Things' has finally reached peak absurdity. In 2017, an unnamed North American casino was violently hacked, and investigators traced the catastrophic network breach to a deeply unexpected source: the high-tech thermometer in the lobby's aquarium. The casino connected the fish tank to the internet to monitor water temperature, inadvertently providing hackers a backdoor. They compromised the thermometer, slipped into the main network, and stole 10 gigabytes of data.
