A closer look

Originating in an English pub in the 1970s out of a sheer desire to invent a sport where the UK could realistically be world champions, competitive toe wrestling is exactly as uncomfortable as it sounds. Opponents lock their big toes across a specialized wooden board, appropriately dubbed the toedium, and attempt to pin the other person's foot to the side. Players must submit to rigorous barefoot inspections before stepping into the ring.
