The London Tube map is deliberately inaccurate

Tourists frequently try to use the Tube map to walk between stations, oblivious to the fact that the map is a total lie. Designed by Harry Beck in 1931, it abandons actual geography in favor of clean, color-coded straight lines. It makes the system easy to read, but also tricks you into taking a train for a journey that was literally a 3-minute walk above ground.
