Long before anyone conceptualized automatic firearms, ancient military engineers figured out how to spam projectiles. The Chinese repeating crossbow featured a top-mounted magazine that dropped a fresh bolt into place the second the previous one was fired. It sacrificed raw penetrating power for sheer terrifying volume, allowing a single operator to unleash ten arrows in under fifteen seconds.
