Leo Gerstenzang watched his wife meticulously wrap tiny wads of cotton around sharp wooden toothpicks to clean hard-to-reach places. Realizing this was an incredibly perilous practice, he mass-produced a safer version that everyone now explicitly uses exactly where the box says not to.
