Network television in the 1990s was a hallucinogenic wasteland of ideas that somehow got funded. Enter 'Poochinski', a 1990 pilot that defies logical explanation. Respected character actor Peter Boyle played a gritty, rule-breaking Chicago detective who is violently murdered, only to have his soul instantly transferred into the body of a crime-solving English bulldog. The pilot featured the dog loudly passing gas, driving a car, and biting criminals in the groin, all while Boyle provided the internal monologue. Miraculously, executives decided that a flatulent, reincarnated dog cop wasn't Sunday night material, and the pilot vanished into obscurity.
