HERE’S THE INTERESTING PART

Our entire modern audio ecosystem is named after a defunct piece of hardware. The term was coined by a journalist mashing together 'broadcast' and Apple's 'iPod' long before smartphones existed. We just collectively agreed to keep using the word despite the namesake device sitting in a landfill.
