A closer look

Discovered completely by accident while digging a canal in Bulgaria during World War II, the Etruscan Gold Book is the oldest multi-page book ever found. Dating back to 600 BCE, it consists of six sheets of pure 24-carat gold bound together with golden rings. The pages are stamped with horsemen, a mermaid, and soldiers. It’s an incredible 2,500-year-old flex proving the ancient elite were making blinged-out literature centuries before paper even existed in Europe.
