King Henry VIII legally banned reading palms because he thought it was a scam utilized by vagabonds

The guy who chopped off his wives' heads was surprisingly skeptical about fortune telling. In 1530, Henry VIII passed the Egyptian Act, officially banning 'chiromancy' (palmistry) in England. He claimed it was a deceitful practice used by 'outlandish people' (mostly Romani travelers) to scam good Christians out of their money. He preferred his irrational decisions to be based strictly on his own libido.
