Jacob Frank claimed he was reincarnated from a fake messiah

Jacob Frank did the exact opposite, violently claiming he was the direct reincarnation of Sabbatai Zevi, a guy who had notoriously failed at being the messiah a century earlier. Frank went on to start a wildly controversial, highly secretive group that deliberately broke every single religious law possible.
