To make Tapa cloth, artisans literally strip the inner bark off mulberry trees and aggressively smash it with wooden mallets for hours until it flattens into a surprisingly soft, durable fabric. The result is a beautifully textured canvas that gets intricately painted, proving that blunt force trauma can actually yield spectacular fashion.
