Your dedicated reading tablet has an incredibly lazy approach to power consumption. The screen is filled with millions of microscopic capsules containing black and white pigments suspended in oil. Once an electrical charge pushes the pigments to the surface, they simply stay there indefinitely, meaning the screen uses zero battery power while you slowly read a paragraph.
