Bloodstone amulets were used to stop nosebleeds in Rome
Long before influencers told you to balance your chakras with quartz, Roman soldiers bought literal bloodstones to treat nosebleeds. Because the green stone had red flecks in it, ancient doctors assumed it must magically coagulate blood. It’s the exact same logic a toddler uses when matching shapes, just applied to trauma surgery.
