In a move that proved live television was a beautifully lawless wasteland, children's host Soupy Sales looked directly into the camera in 1965 and instructed his tiny viewers to find the 'green pieces of paper' in their sleeping parents' wallets. He told them to mail the cash to him. It was a joke, but the studio was absolutely not laughing when the stolen money actually started rolling in.
