Historian claimed three entire centuries were faked

A German historian proposed that the years 614 to 911 never actually happened, and were entirely fabricated by a Roman Emperor to legitimize his rule. According to this logic, we are actually living in the 1700s and everyone just agreed to go along with the typo.
