Ants don't need Google Maps because they rely on a far more aggressive system: chemically yelling at the floor. When a scout ant finds a dropped French fry, it secretes volatile pheromones from its abdomen on the walk back to the nest. Other ants detect this chemical perfume with their antennae and follow it, reinforcing the trail with their own pheromones. It's basically a highly efficient crowdsourced GPS that operates entirely on peer pressure and body odor.
