A closer look
Giving players a giant open city and military-grade explosives is a recipe for unmitigated disaster, so developers have to get creative with punishments. Rather than simply banning trolls who constantly blow up other players' personal vehicles, Grand Theft Auto Online implements a Bad Sport mechanic. Chronic griefers are violently exiled from the general population and forced into specialized lobbies filled exclusively with other toxic players. To add insult to injury, their character is permanently forced to wear a giant, humiliating white dunce cap.
