Just to remind everyone that birds are literally just highly modified prehistoric monsters, these tropical juveniles hatch with functional hooks on their forelimbs. If directly threatened, the clumsy chicks simply hurl themselves out of nests and violently clamber back up branches utilizing their wing-claws. They eventually lose this incredibly terrifying feature as they transition into adulthood.
