Tintin traveled farther than his creator ever did
The intrepid reporter Tintin traveled to the Congo, America, and Tibet, but his creator essentially stayed on his couch. Hergé famously wrote the earliest and most iconic adventures of Tintin without ever visiting the countries he depicted. He relied entirely on random magazine clippings and sheer stereotypes, which explains a lot of the highly questionable early art.
