In a desperate bid to combine the exhaustion of cycling with the claustrophobia of a coffin, the Shweeb was born. It’s a human-powered monorail system where you lie back in a clear, suspended pod and pedal furiously to move along a hanging track. Google even threw a million dollars at it in 2010 to see if it could solve urban transit. Shockingly, making commuters sweat in a sealed plastic terrarium dangling above traffic didn't catch on, leaving it as a quirky amusement park ride in New Zealand.
