A closer look
Data centers generate so much blistering heat that conventional air conditioning is basically just a gentle breeze in an oven. To stop processors from literally melting, hyperscalers are utilizing two-phase liquid immersion cooling. They dunk entire server blades directly into vats of specialized, non-conductive engineered fluids like 3M Novec. As the chips run hot, the fluid immediately boils and turns to vapor, aggressively carrying the heat away before condensing on cool coils and raining back down onto the servers.
