A closer look
Neutron stars are the collapsed cores of massive supergiant stars and are so incomprehensibly dense that a single teaspoon of their material would weigh roughly six billion tons on Earth. These cosmic remnants pack the mass of about one and a half of our suns into a sphere measuring only twelve miles across, held together by gravitational forces so extreme they crush protons and electrons together. To put this sheer density into perspective, it is the equivalent of cramming the entire human population into a space the size of a sugar cube. It is exactly the kind of mind-bending physics that astrophysicists love to brag about at parties, mostly because it makes our daily struggles on this floating space rock feel completely insignificant compared to a literal mountain fitting onto a spoon
