Ping pong paddles require two colors

Olympic table sports take their rubber surfaces very seriously. Players used to use the same color rubber on both sides of the paddle, but with vastly different spin textures, completely baffling their opponents. Authorities stepped in and mandated that one side must be red and the other black, ruining the sneaky illusion and forcing players to actually rely on skill.
