In 2013, a 66-foot asteroid sneaked past every early warning system and exploded in the atmosphere over Chelyabinsk, Russia. The flash was brighter than the sun, and the delayed shockwave blew out windows across the entire city, injuring over a thousand people who had unfortunately walked to the glass to see what the bright light was.
