Bruce Campbell had such a miserable time filming the original Evil Dead movie that he was subjected to freezing temperatures and covered in a cheap, horrible fake blood mixture made from Karo syrup, non-dairy creamer, and red food coloring that literally baked onto his skin; because they were filming in an abandoned cabin without running water, he couldn't wash it off and had to ride in the back of a pickup truck looking like a fresh homicide victim just to get home, proving that independent horror filmmaking is mostly just an exercise in seeing how much physical and psychological abuse an aspiring actor is willing to tolerate before they finally snap and murder the director
