Autonomous self driving cars developed by major tech companies initially failed their road tests in Australia because the complex artificial intelligence systems simply could not comprehend the hopping motion of kangaroos. The sophisticated algorithms were trained to predict the movement of standard wildlife like deer, which run linearly across roads, but a massive marsupial launching itself erratically through the air completely shattered the software's depth perception. The cars would mistakenly register the kangaroo as being much further away while it was airborne and panic when it suddenly landed directly in front of the bumper. It is tremendously comforting to know that billions of dollars in cutting edge machine learning can be completely defeated by an overgrown rat that relies on a biological pogo stick for locomotion. We are constantly warned that artificial superintelligence is going to aggressively take over the planet, but it turns out the robot apocalypse can be easily thwarted by a bouncy animal
