A closer look
North Sentinel Island is strictly off-limits to visitors because the indigenous population has violently rejected all contact with the outside world for tens of thousands of years. The Indian government actually made it a criminal offense to travel within three miles of the island, mostly to prevent overly ambitious missionaries and naive travel vloggers from being turned into human pincushions by a barrage of arrows. While the rest of humanity has spent the last few millennia inventing income taxes, existential dread, and the corporate workday, the Sentinelese have managed to maintain a completely isolated hunter-gatherer lifestyle simply by immediately attacking any boat that approaches their beach. You have to respect a society whose entire border control policy consists of throwing spears at uninvited guests until they get the hint. It is quite literally the only place on Earth safe from gentrification and overpriced coffee shops
