Louis Vuitton started by packing trunks for royalty
Before it became the default handbag for every influencer on Instagram, Louis Vuitton was just a guy who was really, really good at packing boxes. In 1854, he was hired by Napoleon III's wife to meticulously pack her massive gowns for travel. He eventually invented the flat-top trunk so rich people could stack their luggage on trains, accidentally launching a multi-billion dollar empire.
