Rivers constantly relocate millions of tons of dirt

HERE’S THE INTERESTING PART

While looking deeply serene, a flowing water channel is actually a violently efficient conveyor belt slowly stealing the land. Rushing currents aggressively tear away sediment from the banks and carry it downstream, eventually dumping it entirely out to sea. Given enough time, a simple stream can completely erase a mountain range and turn it into muddy sludge.
