King George I wanted a concert on the River Thames, so George Frideric Handel delivered the ultimate aquatic soundtrack. His 'Water Music' was debuted by fifty musicians crammed onto a barge floating down the river alongside the King. The royal was so thrilled he demanded it be replayed repeatedly, completely ignoring how exhausted the brass section must have been.
