While the universally accepted maximum speed limit of the cosmos clocks in at nearly three hundred million meters per second, quantum physicists can aggressively manipulate it. By carefully firing lasers straight through a super-cooled sodium vapor, they successfully decelerated a light beam to the speed of a bicycle.
