Classical musicians use rubato to manipulate song tempo

HERE’S THE INTERESTING PART

It is the fancy musical equivalent of ignoring the speed limit for emotional effect. 'Rubato' is a technique where a performer intentionally deviates from the strict tempo of a piece, subtly speeding up and slowing down to add deep expressive tension. It completely ruins the mechanical precision of a metronome, proving that true artistry heavily relies on explicitly ignoring the printed rhythmic instructions.
